My Neighbour Totoro wins six Olivier Awards

The stage adaptation of the Studio Ghibli animated Japanese film won the most awards of any production at this year’s event.

The landmark production of My Neighbour Totoro has won at total of six awards at this year’s Olivier Awards, including Best Entertainment or Comedy Play and Best Director.

The staging of the celebrated 1988 animated feature film by Hayao Miyazaki was brought to audiences at the Barbican by its original composer Joe Hisaishi with the RSC, adapted by playwright Tom Morton-Smith, in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV.
