NEW MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO TRAILER LAUNCHED
The trailer premiered at an event in London in the same week that the play’s Executive Producer and Director met at the Barbican ahead of rehearsals.
We launched the short film at Japan House London on Tuesday 14 June as part of the celebrations for 37 years of Studio Ghibli.
The studio was founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki on 15 June 1985, and it is a new version of their 1988 animated classic _My Neighbor Totoro _that we will be performing this winter.
Guests from Nippon TV, Kenichi Yoda and Hisashi Igarashi attended the event, which included a welcome from RSC Acting Artistic Director Erica Whyman as well as an ‘in conversation’ with Director Phelim McDermott, Associate Director Ailin Conant, Adapter Tom Morton-Smith and Lighting Designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, hosted by RSC Executive Producer Griselda Yorke.
The previous day, Phelim and the show’s Executive Director Joe Hisaishi came together at the Barbican for conversations surrounding the production, ahead of rehearsals starting next month. It was their first time meeting together at the venue which will house the show later this year.
My Neighbour Totoro will play a 15-week season from Saturday 8 October 2022 to Saturday 21 January 2023. Tickets are now available through the Barbican website.
